How digital assistants are closing equity gaps in higher educat - student project

This project demonstrates how I applied lessons from Alan Sharpe’s Write a Compelling B2B Case Study / Customer Success Story course. I condensed an IBM case study into a mini version featuring one sentence for each of the four key sections: company, situation, solution, and results. The goal was to retain the most important insights while creating a concise, easy-to-read case study.

Case study turned into mini case study:

Title: How digital assistants are closing equity gaps in higher education

Company: AtlasRTX and IBM Watsonx Assistant partnered with Rockhurst University and Purdue University's Krannert School of Management to improve student engagement and accessibility.

Situation: Prospective students often missed opportunities to connect with academic advisors due to scheduling conflicts and limited staff availability.

Solution: The universities implemented AI-powered digital assistants to provide 24/7 multilingual support and guide students through admissions processes.

Results: Engagement increased significantly, with 52% of assisted applicants accepted at Krannert and over 260 staff hours saved per month at Rockhurst.

All the lessons I applied:

  1. Pick the best customer – Focused on two universities with measurable results.

  2. Ask about the situation, solution, and results – Summarized these key elements into single sentences.

  3. Turn transcript into outline – Condensed the original case study into four concise sentences.

  4. Write for clarity and impact – Used simple, active sentences that highlight benefits and outcomes.

  5. Keep the title – Preserved the original to maintain continuity with the source.
