High Five 4 a Riesengaudi

Rayos de la Trinidad

Sarah Shaw's class "Beginning Collage Techniques: Cut & Paste a Place!" helped me a lot with this.

So strange that I find myself drawn to the Passion front now, since Jesus Christ on the cross has been a major reason for my resistance to this project.

It is painful to see the tortured; and it is hard for me to understand how especially the cross itself is worshipped, a symbol of suffering.

However, just like with the Pop Art version, the outcome of this one also has brought me comfort and a sense of peace.

High Five 4 a Riesengaudi - image 1 - student projectGaudí often included botanical themes in his buildings, honoring the plants that had to be removed.

So, I also chose paper cutouts with mainly botanical images for my collage, featuring rose hips, thistles, asters, and Christmas roses.

For the sky and artistically added rays of the Trinity, I used an advertisement for wild-caught fish.

There’s a lot of room for interpretation... Enjoy!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

High Five 4 a Riesengaudi - image 2 - student project
Just experimenting and exploring. Here in Pop Art style, inspired by James Rizzi, using a photocopy of one of my sketches for material tests.

I find color combos super intriguing, but patterns can be a bit tricky for me. Plus, I’m usually not a fan of colored pencils (Derwent Colorsoft).

Still, I've gained some insights that I can share in the final version.

Many thanks to Mikiyato/pexels.com for the awesome photo reference!

Mondrian Vibes

(a) It’s a fun experiment zone; and so far, it’s been smooth sailing "without strong waves". :)

Materials used: Royal Talens Brush Pens "Ecoline", Caran D'Ache Neocolor II Aquarelle (since I didn’t have any black brush pens on hand), and Daler Rowney drawing paper.

This class has a fantastic concept and a lot of dedication, I love this so much. However, I faced some unexpected challenges. One of them is my stubbornness to go my own way. Let's see what will unfold.

Like in previous art challenges, one idea sparked another, and I've created a few sketches that I really like. I hope to share them with you soon.High Five 4 a Riesengaudi - image 5 - student project

For now, it's just this. And Piet, "Professional Giant Egg Producer". :D

High Five 4 a Riesengaudi - image 6 - student projectI'm sharing this simple start with the intention of completing the project. It has definitely the potential to be a "Riesengaudi" (German slang for a total blast of fun, and a little wordplay too).

Things might go smoother if I stick more closely to the class. And in terms of time management, by repeating Fab's JUMP classes could help as well.

Again, a big thank you to Fab's wife for inspiring this amazing class and, of course, to Fab too. Thank you both!
