Haden's Digital Nomad Career Answers

Current Opportunities
I'm 29 years old, I'm single, no kids, and healthy. I'm from the United States. I am the HR Director for an Aviation company. I'm finding there is a need for small businesses to have help developing an HR Department. Specifically what I want to help with is developing an HR Starter kit for companies to ensure all there documents are cohesive, professional, and tailored for their company (not a bunch of templates that are mixed and matched).

Current Skills and Experience
I have a B.S. in Psychology and a M.A. in Experimental Psychology. My educational background is Psychology, experimental design, and digesting research into a way that is understandable to others. I have 3 years experience as an HR Director and have built an HR department from the ground up. I have my pilot's license and am about to get my commercial license. It's possible to get rated in another country I move to to fly for hire. In my HR career, I've had great success with SharePoint and Office 365 development.
The HR experience and SharePoint development is what I want to leverage as a consulting company. I'm finding small business owners who are not ready to put an HR person on salary, could really benefit from building a good SharePoint site that helps track/organize any number of things.
I also have lots of experience in writing (though it was research based) and have created 2 substack pages that I want to continue to grow as a possible side income.

Lifestyle and Career Goals
I want to have my own business and have control of my hours. The commitment that a traditional HR job demands is to be onsite and available for employees to talk to. No matter how good I get at my job, whatever I "build" is not my own. I want to build my company and help other small businesses grow. I can do this completely remote.
I want to work from all around the world, my underlying theme for my entire life is exploring what is out there and meeting new people. I want a life style where I can do that, going on side quest along the way.
Ideally my customer base would be in the US for the consulting, but I would be able to do my business from anywhere in the world. It would be even better if I could help English speaking companies in a time zone close to wherever I'm located. But if I pursue this correctly, I won't need to be on zoom calls often, maybe a couple times a week. And writing, I can do that any time.
I would need to create an income of about $5000/month to be comfortable.

Your Current Career and Whether It Can Be Pivoted
My current work as an HR Director is 75% online. If I transitioned to my own business, I would be able to do the job 100% from a computer.
I would love to find ways to create content or courses to help other businesses with developing HR tech organization.

Entreprenuer, Freelancer or Employee
Financial stability is important to me. Becoming the richest person in the world is not. What is important is to be in charge of my time and work. As long as I'm in a place I can take a few meetings and access internet, I can do all my work anywhere in the world.

Digital Nomad Career That Resonates With You Most
I think a combination of Consulting/Digital Design/Web development is the best path for me. Specifically what I would call HR Tech Consulting. Helping developing cohesive documents and procedures is one side of things. The part I'm really passionate about and love working on is the Office 365 development. Specifically utilizing SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps to build an internal site/intranet that makes information flow smoothly, makes it easily accessible, and is user friendly.
I also love writing, I've recently been motivated and pushed by friends/family to start posting my work on my two Substack pages.

I would love to turn on paid subscribers and develop that. I love telling stories about my adventures I've been on, a life of being a digital nomad and going on side quest throughout my travels will make for excellent content.
