Grey Heron
This was another wonderful class Jane! I was rather surprised I didn’t encounter any problems with this painting. Cascade Green is one of my favorite pigments so it was fun to use for this painting. Painting this Heron brought back a funny memory.
FOOT NOTE: I laughed when I just a minute ago, I saw that I already told this story to Jane when I commented on her Grey Heron painting…It really is a fond memory…..
Many years ago we had a fish pond and a Great blue Heron had been snagging our fish from the pond. During a family gathering at our house my middle daughter came to me in rather a panic and said she saw this big animal creeping across the yard. Mind you she is about 25 years old at this time. Knowing what she probably saw, I asked her to describe what it looked like. She said it was tall and then she started walking trying to imitate what she saw. When I imitated her walking, she said “yes, yes what could it be?”. I told her it’s a Great blue Heron that’s been hanging out to steal our fish. Funny thing was, she didn’t know what a Great blue Heron was. When I told her it’s a bird, she said “It can’t be, it was really big and walking”. The whole family burst out in laughter. Years later my granddaughter was about five when she first heard the story and couldn’t believe her mom didn’t know what a blue Heron was. Good family memories! Maybe I will frame this and give to her :) Thanks again Jane for another terrific day!
