Gorgeous Flowers with Depth

Gorgeous Flowers with Depth - student project

Flowers are something I have had a love-hate relationship with - they are so beautiful to grow, and look at, and they can be so so difficult to paint or draw due to their complexity.

So I decided to spend a bit of time working on a way of painting them that felt like it captured enough of their essence without needing extreme amounts of detail to convey what I was trying to represent.  I filled many sketchbook pages with flower paintings, trying out different methods to find the ones I enjoyed the best:

Bluebells (and mountains with a dragon)

Hydrangea

I also used this same approach to paint the flower in this flower-fairy painting:

Lavender

I've found a way of painting flowers that I find satisfying - I hope this class helps you find your way of painting flowers too.
