Oil pastels are feeling more natural ... but I'm still having a hard time controlling them. I used a vivid split complementary color scheme (thanks Tamas!) of red, yellow-green, and blue-green. The tip of a dead micron pen was used to carve some texture into the oils. 

When manzanita bark peels you'll see a gorgeous rust-red beneath. This is my favorite tree of all time, a tree full of character that was clinging to the banks of the Rogue River near Gold Hill, Oregon. 

I *laughed* when Elisabeth said she doesn't like her Pentel oil crayons. I have the same crayons and *hate* them. They're way too dry.
