<p>This is a gorgeous drawing. There is a really strong atmosphere here that you seem to have captured beautifully. I love the contrasts of the darks and lights throughout the image, Also the framing of this scene is wonderful, the open gate leading us in and the tree branches at the top frame this whole image perfectly. Great detail and attention on the gate itself. Really beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing this, it's a perfect drawing for our project gallery, it captures that sense of being in the landscape completely, which is the one thing I'd hoped would come through in the class. Thank you - this is so lovely to hear and I really appreciate you taking the time to write it. I love this place so much; there are lots of jobs to do with the horses but I always take a moment to take in the light and the changing textures. You were so very right in saying that drawing a landscape enables you to experience it more clearly; I’ve always preferred portraits but I think I’m converted! Thank you.

<p>This is our field in Derbyshire; it sits on the brow of a hill with a valley beyond and more hills in the distance. The gate opens onto a paddock which has been sectioned off for ponies. </p>
