Fabric Softcover Coptic

This was the first class on bookbinding and took, and my first attempt was not ideal, using scraps and some embroidery thread I had handy.  Fortunately I learned a lot, but ultimately decided to cut out the stitching from the first attempt and re-use the signatures with a better cord and nicer cover.  (first attempt photo below)

For the second attempt I used some fabric left over from my wedding and a tutorial from SeaLemon (on YouTube) to make book cloth using HeatNBond, which I then attached to cardstock.

I learned a lot over the course of several practice projects about what weight of cord I like to get the stitches to show up nicely, as well as the beauty of wax on cord, and of course I had to practice dropping forward any my kettle stitches over and over.  But I was really happy to be getting the hang of it!

I love the finished product and look forward to making more.
