Example project: Herons and fan
This is the demonstration that I did in the last lesson, for you to take a closer look at.
In this composition, I've used a hand holding a fan, with several herons in different poses flying up out of the pan. The hand is a lot like the hand that you can see me draw in lesson no. 7.
The drawing itself is pretty basic, but that's all I'm wanting to capture here: light, rapid, economical drawing based on an underlying 'scaffold' of constructions lines (or foundation lines).
Here's one of the individual studies I did of a heron in flight. Note the constructions lines in blue, which helped me understand the main 'components' making up the heron, and helped me keep a neat sense of proportion and overall form.
Here's another study I did. This one is using an 'S-curve' to help me arrange several herons in one visual flow.
Feel free to create a composition of your own making, from your own imagination and creativity, based on this class, and upload it as a project in the Project Gallery. I'd love to see it, and I'm happy to answer any questions you have. :)
