Embroidery or Serigraphy, what is the most appropriate technique to personalize - student project

The work uniform is not only a mandatory accessory to use in the work area. When an organization decides to implement this code among its employees, it does so as part of a corporate identity project , with which it seeks to reflect an image of professionalism to the client.

In this way, uniforms are no longer just a garment and become a symbol that reflects the image of the company and helps build the brand that distinguishes it from its competition. The personal stamp of each organization is distinguished by an  appropriate design, the company's own colors and its logo .

Currently, the two most widely used methods of customizing uniforms are Embroidery and Screen Printing Services. Each of the techniques has its advantages, We will mention some of them and we will differentiate them so that you can more safely choose the most convenient for your work clothes.

The uniform embroidery are the most popular because they reflect greater professionalism and quality of the garment. Embroidery is characterized by its high resistance to wear, durability in shape, color and texture, even after constant washing, and because it can be applied to a wide range of natural and synthetic fabrics. Among the main advantages of personalized uniforms through embroidery are:

Quality-related garments: embroidery requires time and precise stitches to apply. While computerized equipment is currently used for embroidering small items on garments, it is still associated with a different kind of quality.

Compatible with a wide range of textiles: embroidery is usually applied mainly to natural fabrics, such as cotton and synthetics; sometimes it will be necessary to add an extra layer in the embroidery area to increase resistance.

For its part, screen printing is a printing technique that allows you to work quickly and economically, regardless of whether the garments have different characteristics of size, shape or quality. It is common to see it in cheap fabric T-shirts and shirts and its durability is usually lower, since the pigments used tend to degrade with time, exposure to the sun and continuous washing.

On average, the duration of a quality screen printing can range from three to six months and the highest quality up to a year, or more, provided that proper care is taken. Its advantage over embroidery is that more detailed designs, such as small letters, can be produced without being lost in the overall image. Therefore, they are recommended to be used in garments where detail is very important; as well as heavy-duty garments that will be periodically replaced for safety reasons, such as industrial uniforms.

 Main differences

 Application:

The embroidery with its thread finish is applied by means of industrial embroidery machines that allow to reproduce designs in flat colors, this aspect is of utmost importance, since it is very common for customers to want to reproduce three-dimensional designs or with color degradation in embroidery, When embroidery is done with thread, it only allows working one color per section of the design. So if the work to be done results in an image with a lot of detail, the ideal is to work it in silkscreen.

 Price:

If we are interested in the price, we must consider the fact that embroidery turns out to be more expensive than printing , the reason is very simple, the inputs are a little higher in price compared to those of silk-screen printing. But, when it comes to delivery times, embroidery is faster , allowing to have a production even on the same day it arrives.

 Purpose:

Purpose is also important, as embroidery works more for products for business purposes , branding, involving a context of representation and durability. On the other hand, if we talk about promotional t - shirts, screen printing is the correct option .

 Limitations:

Textile embroidery makes it impossible to work large designs, since its limit is 21 centimeters at the base, in screen printing you can even work dimensions of up to 60 x 90 centimeters.

Customizing  business uniforms  is of utmost importance and brings many benefits, such as easier identification of your staff or increasing the sense of belonging, so it is important to choose the option that best reflects the professionalism of your brand or company.
