Les stylos-pinceaux : apprendre à jouer avec les lignes et les textures

Oh wow Rae!  These blew me away! For a few reasons: Not only are they lovely, but I particularly appreciate the fact that you seemed to have used different techniques for each one. Did you use more of a dry-brush technique for the one on the right? Somehow you managed to make it look almost like an etching, which is super cool! In the one on the left, you have a nice contrast between the thin lines the petals/leaves, the textural 'bud' in the middle and the nice flat black shape around it.  But more than the results, I'd be interested in hearing how the process felt for you! Did you enjoy it? What do you feel like you learned? Did you also explore making super fast strokes?  Thanks so much for sharing and keep at it! :)  Marie-Noëlle

Thank you for the feedback! : )
For the peppermint, I intended to explore repetitions and points of ink to create that specific texture of the leaves. So I used a very tiny dry brush for this purpose. In the left image, I explored the full contrast of tone that black ink could do.

I feel great to take this class because I used to draw with ink for traditional Chinese paintings and this class offers me new perspectives in the drawing process and experiments on different subjects. I also appreciate that you added a bonus section to share some of the publishing projects to see the magic feeling of ink drawing on a larger scale of the image.

Super cool Rae!! I'm so glad to hear about all the things you learned. and YAY I couldn't be happier that you liked the bonus section because I wasn't sure what people would think about it.
It looks to me like you're great at exploring and creating lovely works so keep on working on your artwork and delving into exploring and having fun—it seems to bring you to awesome places. :)
Thanks so much again for sharing your lovely, hard work!

Peppermint! Never would've thought to make those marks with a brush pen. Cool. There is a nice sense of depth to the leaves.

Totally agree that the marks are super cool here!
