Rescue is the best way to go. We weren’t able to do that when our last dog due to Hub’s allergies. We had to be certain about a hypoallergenic dog. So, we got a standard poodle who is almost 13. A puppy is a lot of work, and Trent is almost 87, so we’re thinking Teddy is our last pet. Pets are so important. When our granddaughter did 3rd grade here during Covid, we got a "class pet." Amalia so dearly wanted and hamster, and we all fell in love with Nibbles. Enjoy your kitties. Best, Judy (also an animal lover)

Truly the best way to go! Hope your poodle stays healthy for a big while longer 🤞 Hamsters are lovely too, but I prefer Pet Rats! Very clean, very amicable, and so smart. We got our first rescue cat from a local rescue place, a cat with about 3 years, left behind after everyone adopted their small kittens. The second one we found her near some trees abandoned and with cloudy eyes, at about 1 month old. Love them both!Have a wonderful time with your puppy (doesn't matter what age, they're always a puppy 🥰)

You just gave me a big smile as I read how you prefer rats. After our “classrom pet” hamster, Amaliia begged her parents for a pet rat. Haku is a handsome boy, and he will get into Ama’s hoodie and stay crawling around. He adores her and is a great pet. He won’t hoodie-visit anyone else. Ah that's amazing! Glad Amaliia got Haku 🐀 They're so sweet. We had 2 female rats, and they were very fun. I liked them since they're very smart (you can teach them little tricks), very clean (they know how to use the "bathroom"), and have personalities! Females tend to be more energetic though, while males like to just hang around 😅 We only had females so far, and with our cats now... Probably not getting some any time soon haha Hope Amaliia keeps enjoying her pet rat! Maybe even get a buddy for Haku 🥰

Amalia explained to me how you could not mix the males and females or two of one kind. Kinda forget the whole thing about when you get two. But I know how smart they are! Also, Haku definitely responds in a very special relationship with his handler!  

Yes, very smart pets! You can mix them, but if male + female they have to be neutered (unless you want MANY pet rats haha), and they have to be introduced very carefully. It's usually safer to have 2 females or 2 males. We got those 2 females because they were sisters, so it was much easier to "introduce" them. Males do like to wrestle a lot, though 😂
