The "rule" I followed for this automatic drawing is to begin at one dot, spiral out from the dot ... moved toward another dot in any sort of fashion and then spiral back in to connect the continuous line to another dot.

For the design below I used three different colours of ink and several separate shapes created from continuous lines.  I then added details into the open spaces of the shapes. To present as a gift, I tied the card with silk ribbon.
