Thank you so much for this great feedback! I really appreciate your notes and suggestions on how to add a looser touch to my painting. I would not have thought to wait until the paint dried! I did learn to be patient and take the time to keep mixing and trying the results until I was happy with the color. I'll watch for any new classes you may be posting.

You're doing really good work, and I'm glad you found my feedback helpful. This fall I plan to make of video on how to paint water and reflections in water and possibly another on setting up and painting a floral still life. Stay tuned and keep up the excellent work, Cindy!

Very nice, Cindy! Good job with the four values and nice variation in the ridge color. Also, great job showing the lit and shadow sides of the objects in your painting. Your clouds look very organic and your colors are beautiful!The painting looks really nice as it is. If you'd like to make it look a bit looser, you could try any of the suggestions below. Softening edges:Some of your edges may be too hard in places. Generally speaking, you can soften edges by dragging some of the color of the edge of the object into whatever surrounds it or drag a bit of the surrounding color into the object (not everywhere, just in a few spots). For example, you could place the same sky color you used just above the ridge on a dry flat brush and lightly, lightly drag the narrow edge of the brush across the top of the ridge so that some of the sky color breaks the hard line of the top of the ridge. You don't need to do it all the way across the top of the ridge, just in a couple of spots.You can soften the edges of the shadow under the large trees on the right using the same method as above. Generally speaking, the color of cast shadows becomes a bit lighter as you move away from the object and edges become a bit softer. You can soften the edge between the field in the back and the darker green of the foreground by breaking that hard line in just a couple of spots. You can apply the same method to the edges of some of the clouds by dragging a bit of the sky color into or over the edge of the clouds in a few spots and/or dragging the color of the clouds into the sky in a few spots. Adding a little color to your shadows:Try mixing a bit of Alizarin crimson and a bit of Ultramarine Blue with the dark green color you used for the shadow sides of the trees at the base of the ridge. You should end up with a dull mauvish greenish color (about the same value or a bit lighter than original dark green color you used). You may also have to mix in a tiny bit of white to lighten the value. Incorporate some of the newly mixed color into those shadows (not everywhere) for more variation and to create more atmospheric perspective.For any of these changes, I would wait until your paint fully dries (1-2 weeks), so if you don't like any of them, you can just wipe them off with a bit of solvent on a paper towel.Overall, you did a great job, Cindy! I'm really impressed by your striking colors--you achieved a very luminous painting, and it's very calming to the viewer.If you have any questions regarding my feedback, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
