Thank you! It's a simple Trim Path (chapter 6 in the class) animation over a shape I drew with the pen tool, and a couple of masks in some places to give the illusion it's weaving in between the letters. :)

Thank your for your course Manon. I was born in the 1970's and absolutely love retro graphics. Even though it makes me feel old! This is exactly the kind of work that I'd like to get into. I decided to learn After Effects with the spare time I've had during lockdown. Can I ask how long it took for you to get to this level of proficiency? I find the software pretty tough at times and sometimes feel disheartened with how much I need to learn to get to any decent standard. Thanks, Colin.

Hi Colin, That's great to hear! I completely understand how intimidating AE can be at times but I really believe it's a software that needs to be approached with a 'learn as you go' mentality rather than wanting to cover all of the basics before allowing yourself to fully dive into animation with it. I'm self taught with AE and have been using it consistently for around 4-5 years but I'm -far- from knowing everything it has to offer. The way I use it looks nothing like the way it would be used by somebody who does character rigging+animation, or visual FX. We are all in our own little corners of the software, using very different and specialised tools. It would be very hard to master everything, and that's ok. To be honest some of the things I teach in this class were completely new to me around 6 months ago. I learn new things about AE with every client project I make, by watching lots of youtube tutorials. Hope that answers your question, and I'm glad you decided to start animating! :)

I really appreciate your feedback. 

I think I've just reached a stage where I feel overwhelmed with everything that After Effects can do. I think I've been bogged down with trying to learn all the different aspects of the programme, instead of diving into it and finding my own way through trial and error.

And as you mentioned, it's just a case of learning as you go on.
