Thank you Erika! It was a joy to create this. I do like to draw. I've drawn for most of my life, I started painting a few years ago, and now, I'm making up for lost time, painting almost every day. I wish I had had the courage to start incorporating color years ago, but I really felt like using color artistically would be so difficult. Once I started, I realized how much fun it is. Thank you for creating your classes. I've enjoyed the ones I've taken very much. I gained insight into using pen, and your technique demonstration was excellent.

Liz, your line and wash Sun Conure turned out so well! I'm so happy to see that you built this one from scratch on your own, from freehand pencil sketch, all the way through to the watercolor washes. You did a great job creating believable shapes and proportions as you were drawing the bird. I love that your pen and ink work shows line weight variation and it's not "overdone", which can be so easy to do. Your lines and marks, in combination with the organic watercolor effects, lead to fresh-looking results. Great work drawing those different types of feathers and creating those textures with the pen and ink. No area is over-blended or overworked when it comes to the watercolor. You very successfully avoided creating "muddiness", which can be tricky to do when combining warm and cool colors with watercolor. I really like your vignette-style background, too! Lovely work creating that gradient look, where the light blues and greens turn into the whiteness of the paper. Thank you so much for checking out the class, and for sharing here with the community!

I think this turned out so bright because I used my liquid watercolors this time. They are very fun to paint with and have such strong pigment. I really enjoyed painting the parrot.
