Breathe

 

The mouth of the dark cavern

Seemed to open wide

Swallowing the light and air

 

My feet sank deep in the mud inside

I took a step

A breath

Sinking deeper

 

The light from the outside

Called to me

Tantalizing me

Forward

 

Another step forward

And sinking further

Heavier.

Another step to the beckoning light

Heavier

Sinking further down

 

Down down down

 

Another step forwad, only an inch forward

But another foot down

Waist deep.

Slushed forward again

Down

Light up ahead

I see the rocky ground ahead
