Thank you for sharing your project, Marsha! I have another class on how to paint a bird if that helps. Having said that, you did a fantastic job and I love the outcome. You've managed to create a cohesive mood and I hope you are pleased with your finished piece!How large is the rock that you painted on?

The rock is 1 1/2 x 3 inches.  I am thinking of adding a small yellow butterfly to be the object my bird is looking at, but my husband wants me to add a branch in the upper corner.  Hmmm

I think you should go with your gut. You could cut out a paper butterfly and branch to see what looks best before using paint. 

Sometimes it's nice to leave it a mystery.. it allows the viewer to answer the question: what might the bird be looking at?

Lesson was on background, happy with that.  Wish the bird/branch portion was able to be followed, but will run a bird painting video for that I guess if I decide not to just wing it.
