Automatic drawing with Chris Carter

I folded a single sheet of heavy Canson Paper that had been lying around for some time, covered the front and back rapidly with some discarded fabric I had painted years ago, so that I had a non-precious book that would allow me to loossen up.

I tried to get into a flow, just moving my hand, not thinking too much and not caring too much about the outcome. I was more or less successful, depending on my mood, my state of mind. The first ones were especially difficult.

I always started in the upper leftside corner with a roundish shape and worked with a single line. I tried to never cross any lines. That were the only rules I gave myself.

I found out that I like straight lines, the wobbly ones don't come so easy, and reviewing my pages I still can remember my feelings while doing them.

This is a game I will continue to play. I think I am ready now to play in a proper sketchbook!

I forgot to mention that I still have to fill the other side of my handmade sketchbook: Here my rules will change and maybe I'll experiment a bit more. For the first 2 pages I made a line while listening to music (another game Chris Carter introduced me to).  The first page was made with a stabilo pencil and I added some neurographic lines. For the second page I used a dip pen and some ink. The Canson paper didn't take the ink very well. So I added some colored pencil. I couldn't help seeing some animals in my page and got a bit carried away! :-)

Thank you, Chris, for another great class!
