A tale of two cowls.
I can't even believe to begin to tell you how many times I've tried learning how to knit and failed to stick with it. I would start off with good intentions but never really finish something I was proud to wear. Until now!
Cowl #1 began with soft hopes - some thrifted Berroco ultra wool yarn, a brand new metal circular needle, and this class. I saved the pattern to my notes app, cast on my stitches, and began.

I took my knitting on the subway, outside to the porch, or cozied with it on my couch. Soon enough I ran into a problem - I didn't have enough yarn (and I was too lazy to go buy more!) so I finished my first cowl a few rows shorter, but incredibly proud of myself.

After I finished it, I wanted to make another one. So a few days later, I made a trip to a local yarn store. I went in, on the hunt for some new yarn. The saleswoman said, "Do you need help?". I shook my head "no", out of nervousness, and then I said "I'm looking for this yarn " *points to Vincent's pattern*. She smiles and said, "We've got Malabrigo right here!". She led me to some shelves and that was when I saw it.
Malabrigo Rios in Sabiduria.
A riot of purples in one skein. I had to have it. I gave it a little squish and was like "yep, this is the one".
"That's a beautiful color!! Do you need needles?" She asked.
"Nope I've got some here with me!", I replied, laughing.
She smiled. She wound it up for me, placed it in a bag.
"Have fun!" she said.
I left the yarn store happy as can be. A few days later I cast on Cowl #2 with wooden needles to try out the difference.
I took Cowl #2 everywhere. I knitted outside, on the subway, in Starbucks. And of course, I knitted at home.

Then it was time for me to cast off and weave in my ends. Which I did the same day my cowl was done because I was too excited. Cowl #2 finished up really pretty!

Will there be a cowl #3? Perhaps! I have learned so much from Vincent's class.
1) Malabrigo Yarn is worth the splurge
2) I can knit in the round without fear!
3) Don't be afraid to ask for help in the yarn store
4) Knitting is addictive
and
5) I can knit and so can you.
P.S It's getting cold! What better than to put on the cowl you just made and be toasty warm?

Much love and thanks for the class, Vincent. I appreciate you!
