14 Day Mindset Challenge

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 1 - student projectI completed my challenge and I hope I've learned some things about myself...

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 2 - student projectI decided to try out all sorts of materials that I have around and see if I could even use some of them.  This dip pen didn't work.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 3 - student projectThe watercolor and pen didn't work either as I think I didn't know how much could even be sketched in 6 minutes.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 4 - student projectI liked working with the watercolor pencils maybe because I do use these a lot.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 5 - student projectI was new to Gouache and had no idea where to start.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 6 - student projectI seemed to have control of the drawing with regular colored pencils.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 7 - student projectI struggled with the lack of control with the brush pen.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 8 - student projectAnd the calligraphy pen was better but still I couldn't get any details in...  (it might have been the lack of time too with all these attempts).

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 9 - student projectI'm happy this looked like a clock but frustrated that in my rush I didn't even manage to count the points right!

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 10 - student projectI LOVED doing this sketch even though there was a lot of scribbling!  This was a very fine nib pen I was using.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 11 - student projectI sort of enjoyed this simple sketch too because I could forget the number of leaves or the shadows and just apply ink and water without much thought.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 12 - student projectMaybe I was loosening up because I had never worked with pastels, I couldn't control them at all but I was so pleased with the process and the result on this sketch.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 13 - student projectOur dumbells were colorful and this was fun to sketch and just hope that the outlines and placement of colors would give it some depth.

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 14 - student projectI just didn't like working with the markers.  Once the mark was made, there was nothing to do but go with it...

14 Day Mindset Challenge - image 15 - student projectThe simple pencil gave me a chance to smudge and blend with my fingers so I felt I was an active part of this sketch...

All in all I think I need to enjoy the sketching process more than I really do.  The numbers I applied to the Enjoyment rating was rather surprising to see.  I thought I liked sketching and creating more than these sketches show!  Maybe I needed more time each day... Maybe I needed the rush of a "pretty sketch".  I'd like to try a similar challenge with just one material for a set amount of days and see if I gain confidence and enjoyment rather than just my one day try.

Thank you Ohn Mar!
