In this workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of pointed pen calligraphy: posture, strokes, alphabets, numbers, punctuation, and flourishes. By the end, you’ll be able to write all of the most commonly-used characters with style. Complete beginners will find this workshop accessible and manageable, but it’s also great for more experienced calligraphers looking to reinforce their grasp of the basics. You’ll need a pointed pen, nib, ink, and paper.

- Milestone 1: In Modern Calligraphy: Pointed Pen Basics, watercolorist and modern calligrapher Audrey Ko will walk you through the 8 basic strokes as well as some modified strokes for letters, words, numbers, and common punctuation. Share an address you wrote in calligraphy in the project gallery by October 28th.
- Milestone 2: Now that you’ve got the basics, add some flair with flourishes! In Modern Calligraphy: Flourish Confidently, Audrey will give you tips for flourish placement, with general rules you can practice as you explore developing your own flourishy style. Share an example of your flourishes in the project gallery by November 11th.
