Create a full-color fantasy illustration inspired by the narrative theme 'Moment of Discovery.'

Project Steps

First off, you must understand the concept of 'moment of discovery.' In Chapter 4 I define it as the point in a fantasy book when a character encounters a person/place/thing that leads them away from their familiar reality and into a realm of fantasy.
While watching Chapters 6-8, explore this concept with your sketches.
Then, develop this sketch into a full composition with Chapter 9-10.
Ink your art with (in your own style) with Chapters 11-14.
Complete the project by adding color and texture using Chapters 15-17 as guidance.
Share your work with the class!

Part 1 - When sketching concepts for my fantasy illustration, I found myself drawn to this doodle of 'good/evil' balanced over a line of symmetry.

Part 2 - 'Moment of Discovery' is very common in kids' fantasy and fiction. The Secret Garden was one of my favorites. I decided to draw my characters as children and place them in a natural environment.
