THE FIRST HUNDRED BUYERS
Selling Digital Products When Nobody Knows You
Building stopped being the hard part.
You can make a good digital product now. Templates, ebooks, presets, packs,
notion systems, print files. The tools got cheap and fast, and thousands of
people finished something this month.
Almost none of them sold it.
The reason is simple and almost nobody says it out loud. A selling platform
takes money, delivers files and handles tax. It does not find you customers at
the volume you need. That is a different business.
Gumroad publishes the proof on its own pricing page. Ten percent plus fifty
cents when you bring the buyer. Thirty percent when the marketplace brings the
buyer. Three times the fee for the same transaction. A platform does not charge
triple for something it has in abundance.
And a Gumroad product is not even listed on Discover until it has already made
one successful, non-refunded sale.
So the marketplace mathematically cannot deliver your first customer.
This book is about the part that is yours.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Not aspiring creators. Someone who has already finished a product and cannot
sell it.
No audience. No email list. No following. No money for ads.
Every guide you have read assumes at least one of those. This one assumes none
of them, and that constraint shapes every page.
THE ONE NUMBER THE BOOK IS BUILT ON
The average measured session conversion rate across IRP Commerce merchants in
June 2026 was 2.03 percent.
A hundred buyers at two percent is five thousand visits.
Five thousand visits over ninety days is fifty-six visits a day.
That is the whole problem, written down. It is not inspiring. It is a size of
problem one person with no budget can actually solve, and almost nobody ever
writes it down.
WHAT'S INSIDE
Part One — The Marketplace Will Not Save You
Why listing is not halfway. What a platform's own fee schedule tells you
about how it values discovery. The traffic arithmetic, done properly with
your real price. And an honest look at why a small ad budget on an unproven
page loses money quietly, using measured cost-per-acquisition data rather
than agency estimates.
Part Two — Before Traffic Is the Problem
Why improving the product is almost always the wrong response to no sales.
How to write a promise a stranger can check in ten seconds. The order a
product page has to be written in. How the first ten buyers are gathered by
hand, one message at a time, without discounts or free copies. And what an
early refund actually removes from a new listing, which is far more than the
sale.
Part Three — One Channel, Worked Properly
The four tests any channel has to pass when you start at zero, and the one
channel that passes all four in 2026, with the evidence. Why a percentage of
zero followers is zero. What Google's AI answers did to click-through, from
Pew Research Center's measured browsing study of 68,879 searches. Then how to
work that one channel for ninety days, and the email list that catches the
ninety-eight people who did not buy.
Part Four — Reading, Fixing, Finishing
How to read numbers that are too small to mean anything, and how to know
which ones are not. The four-step diagnostic chain for when nothing sells,
worked in order so the fault names itself. Then the full ninety-day plan,
week by week, with a milestone table and a printable checklist.
