THE PRICE NOBODY BELIEVES
A Workbook for Charging What You Already Know You're Worth · 2026 Edition · 59 pages

Most pricing advice hands you another market range. You probably already have
one. This book starts from a different, better-supported place: a 2026 survey
of 1,273 freelance designers found little real gap between what they charge
and what companies actually pay — the gap that matters is confidence, not
information. Only 12% said they felt "very confident" pricing their work.

This is not an essay collection. It's a workbook, built around scripts you say
out loud, fill-in negotiation templates, role-play scenarios, and a self-
assessment that finds exactly where your belief breaks — not more market
arithmetic.

Every named study, survey and negotiation source in this book is cited to its
original source: Clance and Imes on the imposter phenomenon, Kahneman and
Tversky on anchoring, Linda Babcock's research on the ask gap, Fisher and
Ury's BATNA framework, Chris Voss's negotiation technique, and 2025–2026 data
on the freelance gender pay gap. Where something is a practice recommendation
rather than a cited study, the book says so plainly.

WHAT'S INSIDE

Module One — The Gap
Why the market data you already have never fixes what actually comes out of
your mouth. The imposter phenomenon and the anchoring bias, named precisely.

Module Two — The Scripts
Word-for-word scripts for the discovery call, the quote delivery, the
"that's too expensive" objection, and raising your rate with an existing
client — plus fill-in email templates for each.

Module Three — The Drills
A ten-question self-assessment that scores exactly where your belief
breaks, two full role-play scenarios to run with a friend or alone, and a
structured anchoring drill to build real tolerance for saying a number out
 loud.

Module Four — Build The Belief
How to build an evidence file that actually counters the imposter
narrative, a week-by-week 30-day practice plan, and a full worksheet for
 planning your next real negotiation.

ALSO INCLUDED

 · 4 original diagrams — the confidence gap measured, the anchoring effect,
the self-assessment score bands, the 30-day plan
 · Clickable contents — jump to any chapter
 · Fill-in templates for quotes, rate-raise letters and negotiation planning
 · A print-this-page final checklist

WHO THIS IS FOR

Freelancers and independents who already know their market rate and still
watch a smaller number come out of their mouth. Anyone who has read a pricing
guide and changed nothing about what they actually charge.

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

If you want more market data, day-rate tables or platform fee breakdowns,
this isn't that book — those exist elsewhere in this series. This one assumes
you already have the number and works on the part that keeps you from saying
it.
