Winter landscape

Winter landscape - student project

I want to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible classes you've shared on Skillshare this year. The progress in my painting skills is all thanks to your guidance. I feel fortunate to have crossed paths with you on my artistic journey. As I reflect on the various projects I've worked on this year, it's hard to believe that just a year ago, I had never painted before. Chris, your artistic prowess and teaching style make you the best!

Although landscapes have never been my strong suit, and I hadn't picked up a paintbrush in quite some time, your new class again caught my eye. I initially hesitated to share my latest project, uncertain if it met my usual standards. Because I approached it differently this time — painting with record speed and allowing my brush to flow freely. This art therapy came at the perfect moment, offering a break from meticulous details and encouraging more spontaneous interpretation.

The bonus at the end of the class was fantastic! As someone who once studied at a musical school (and later dropped out), I found it truly fascinating. Your example as a multi-talented person excelling in various fields is truly inspiring.

This year I ventured into painting and learning Spanish from scratch alongside regaining lost musical skills. While my first two hobbies are progressing smoothly, my attempt to revive my piano skills reminded me once again that playing might not be my forte. I've come to realize that my joy lies in appreciating the skill of others rather than attempting to play myself. It also makes me think how different my musical journey might have been in childhood with a piano teacher as exceptional as you are for me in painting now :-)
