Wet-in-Wet Watercolor Apples

Friends, here are some examples of the project - using different colours for my underpainting. This is such a fun way to work!

I like how, if you under-paint with yellow or orange, your painting glows!

In the one above, I really enjoyed "sculpting" the tones with my dark paint. And I liked how the orange leaf  on the left "pours" away into an abstract shape! You can create this by wetting the paper in certain areas before you paint on it.

A cool green makes another interesting under-layer. I like the loose washes I got in this one.

In this one, the dark colours on top are more varied, and I used a pop of white gouache for the highlights.
