Weekend in Morocco

As I boarded the boat, I had no idea what to expect. I was feeling somewhere in between excited and nervous. It was a country, even a continent, I’d never been to before.

Our destination was Morocco. I was spending three months in Spain, and kept hearing Morocco was a place I needed to travel. A couple of friends and I were spending the next few days exploring the country with a tour group.

We visited three different cities, where we saw what life in Morocco is all about. We tried all kinds of Moroccan food. It was all incredible, and we were even able to practice our Spanish by speaking with the people in our group. My favorite part was shopping in the markets in each city. The merchants sell almost anything you can imagine, from hand made quilts, to leather bags and purses, to rustic chess boards. The best part about it is negotiating with them, made even more fun when you don’t speak the same language!

We couldn’t help but be in awe of the landscape of Morocco. We were constantly passing rolling green hills, driving up and down mountains, and even stopping by the beach. The diversity of the landscape was amazing.

The last day, we visited my favorite city, Chefchaouen, also known as the Blue City. Nearly every building is the same powder blue color. We spent the day walking through the entire city learning of the culture and history. It was so beautiful.

I’d recommend Morocco to anyone who loves to travel and experience new things. It’s such a unique place that offers you an experience unlike any other.

I have some pictures of the trip below. Let me know what you think!
