This was quite a fun class. My mixed media octopus turned out better than expected and learned new things with each video. I used a cheaper watercolor paper with this project but will use 100% cotton watercolor on my next (the seahorse).

 

 

My watercolor with the salt effect was a failure, some texture ( I used granulating watercolors) but none of the snowflakes I like.

 

Since I get different results whenever I try this technique I did some experimentation.  This is what I determined works for me to get the snowflake effect with the salt.

1. Use 100% cotton cold press watercolor paper

2. Use non-granulating watercolors 

 2nd attempts at the watercolor salt technique turned out totally different.
