Watercolor Gem Stones-first try.
These were really fun. I thought there was going to be a bunch of ways to mess them up but they were so forgiving. I’m glad I kept the gaps while painting because I LOVE how clean they look without the boarder. I tried the black on my least favorite and if you ask me it made it worse. I did use some white gel pen in some of the lines but very sparingly and only a light single layer so it didn’t stand out to much. I think trying some bleed proof white on a tiny liner bush could be a good way to clean them up too.
After everything was dry I put on a light layer of metallic watercolor glaze over about 1/4 of the gems. in person it’s light catching and changes as you move the page, with different colors here and there. but on camera the yellow highlights were the almost the only highlights it wanted to pick up. I did get the blue to flash in a closeup below.
Definitely a fun project I can see myself doing again. I am excited to do take a few more classes and learn different techniques.
