Warning: May cause aggressive pancake cravings 😁

Warning: May cause aggressive pancake cravings 😁 - student project

This is the short food video I created for my class project in iPhone Food Videography: Make Food Look Delicious on Video.

My goal was simple: make this stack of pancakes look as good on video as it did in real life.

To do that, I focused on three things: light, motion, and depth.

For lighting, I used side light (my forever favorite). It creates that soft drama and reveals texture beautifully. You can really see it working during the honey pour — the light hits the stream just right and makes it glow. Chef’s kiss.

For motion, I chose honey instead of syrup because it’s thicker and slower. That stretch gives the eye something satisfying to follow. One intentional movement. No chaos.

For depth, I styled the frame intentionally... layered pancakes, fresh fruits, and even my outfit in the background to keep the color palette warm and cohesive. Subtle, but it makes a difference.

The video is short. Simple. Intentional. ♥️

And that’s the whole point.

If you’ve ever cooked something delicious and thought,

“Why does this not look as good on camera?” This class is for you. 😊

Whether you’re filming for your blog, your business, your socials, or just to flex on friends and family... You can absolutely make food look mouthwatering using just your iPhone.

Ps. If you take the class, I’d love to see your version! Even a 5–15 second clip is perfect. Screenshots are welcome too.

Let’s fill this gallery with deliciousness. 😋

Ps. I changed the music on my instagram post because there's so much more to choose from :) I also edited the speed of all the footage to 50% to match the vibe of the song.
