Two Protagonists

Pop -- Amora: moonlights as a demigod superhero (but does it, at least in the beginning, for selfish reasons), is a very intelligent student (which is what she bases a lot of her self-worth off of), her family was once wealthy, nerdy, strict with herself, somewhat withdrawn.

Pop -- Kane: lived a lot of his life as a thief (through the use of magickal artifacts, ancient tools originally crafted to fight gods/demigods), and continues his thieving ways, even after becoming a demigod hero; he is wealthy, since being adopted by Bastian; however, most of his childhood was spent in The Wastes, where he was very poor. His adoptive father is who first got him into thieving; Bastian only adopts him because Kane has an affinity with artifacts, and is able to use them (they burn Bastian). In terms of personality, he craves attention and is bothered that Amora does not like him.

Flaw -- Amora: she is largely limited in many ways by her wealth and family, especially since she goes to a high-class university; she also has many misbeliefs, including: 1. people will always betray you, and 2. love is earned through success

Flaw -- Kane: he is limited, albeit in a different way, by his wealth; it controls his actions, so he is only truly "free" during his thief or demigod alter-ego. His misbeliefs are: 1. without love and/or attention, I am worth nothing, and 2. people will only love me if I act in the way they want (people-pleasing/masking, which is something Amora immediately sees through, making her think he is fake, lending to her dislike of him)

Motivation -- Amora: she wants money and success but she needs love and self-love

Agency -- Amora: she sacrifices sleep, fun, and a social life to both be the top student and be a hero

Motivation -- Kane: he wants love and glory but needs to be understood

Agency -- Kane: he is willing to become a thief and a demigod

Vibe -- Amora:

1. Demographic -- female, 21, demigod and college student, she was once wealthy before Bastian screwed over her father in business; she is of average height, with light skin, amber-colored, medium-length hair, and hazel eyes

2. Personality -- witty, introverted, goal-oriented, geek, kind in a quiet way, studious and smart

3. Preferences -- she loves: coffee, granola bars (efficient snacks), reading, letting her hair down (at home), and getting straight As. However, she hates: looking like a slob, loud crowds, less-than-perfect grades, disappointing those she loves

Vibe -- Kane:

1. Demographic -- male, 22, colllege student/thief/demigod, once poor but adopted by the affluent genius and magick artifact collector, Bastian

2. Personality -- a gentleman (but a little narcissistic), chameleon (fits into almost any social setting, unlike Amora), fun-loving and competitive

3. Preferences -- he loves: tea, books, compliments, being flashy, and he hates: being ignored, snobs, bullies, and boredom

Protagonist -- Amora:

1. Movement -- Amora begins the story not caring much about others, but ends the story learning the selflessness of a true hero.

2. Drive -- Amora wants to become successful and admired (and, even though she is masked, saving people helps her feel the admiration she craves).

3. Flaw -- Amora has a hard time trusting, which makes teamwork with Monark (Kane's demigod name) difficult. She also prefers to hold herself at a distance from others, and did not become a hero out of love, but rather for selfish reasons.

4. Extra Tensions -- explore how Amora largely closes herself off from the world (due to losing a lot of friends after becoming poor), how she struggles to understand others (she is so focused on studies, she sometimes forgets about fun/reality), but she is surprisingly tender with her father (who works overtime to put her through school; his kind heart cost him everything, and leads to his eventual death); she also comes off as somewhat cold, but is actually a nervous geek.

Protagonist -- Kane:

1. Movement -- Kane begins the story doing his father's bidding in an attempt to gain favor/glory, but in the end makes choices for himself and betrays his father for the greater good

2. Drive -- due to having nothing other than his adoptive father, Kane wants to earn his love (and the love of others), or he risks going back to The Wastes; however, this leads to a lot of masking, and he is only ever really his true self with a mask on (either as his thief or demigod persona).

3. Flaw -- Kane enjoys attention, sometimes too much; he is also a social chameleon, which, unless he is masked, makes Amora find him "fake." He feels empty inside because although, with his wealth, skills, and attractiveness, he is desired, he is not loved, not even by his own father--to whom he is merely a tool.

4. Extra Tension -- explore Kane experiencing social exhaustion, losing his sense of self, questioning his loyalty to his father, realizing the difference between love and admiration, feeling angry/protective despite his usual carefree demeanor

I hope this is sufficient! The class was enjoyable. :)
