"The Ugly Duckling" tale Illustration

I’ve always been a huge fan of fine art, but when I saw the artworks of Albrecht Dürer, I was completely in love with printmaking.

While working on my website and the Online shop I couldn't help myself but create this inspiring project. I really hope you'll try this magic technique with me!

Working on a classic children's’ Book Illustration is a very responsible project. I wanted to depict some scenes and at the same time experiment using contemporary colors.

Book elements are artworks by themselves, so for a special title I’ve chosen a “T” letter and surrounded it with elements from the tale.

After picking the right composition and Image transferring, I began to cut the lino.

Printing is such a rewarding process so when I started and created the first print I literally couldn’t stop and wanted to continue with different papers.

Surprisingly, stationary paper, as well as craft one, work really well.

For internal Illustration, it was important to depict a beautiful swan protagonist in his very magical time.

To stress the uniqueness of the moment I decided to add golden elements.

And of course, experimenting with paper is one of my favorite parts.
As there are no rules, I used a watercolor brush to make the border of the print more unique (we were using water-based printing paints in the class).

Now I’ve got a whole bunch of crafty beautifully printed illustrations!

Thanks and hope you’ll enjoy this fascinating process too!

I'm always happy to hear from you here and on Instagram :D
