The Lost Robot

For this project I've decided to go for a futuristic theme. There is this small robot searching for the scientist who built him. To find her the robot travels through different landscapes.

I startet with the flower-exercise. I choosed to use reference photos from some mushrooms, cactuses and succulentes cause for me they already have a futuristic look.

I made a background using the some of the granulating watercolors from Rembrandt. In my opinion watercolor and gouache are a very good team. I often use watercolor for blocking in color and creating texture before I paint the final details with gouache. I limited my palet to blueish greens, oranges and yellows.

For the "Objects on black Paper"- Exercise I've paintet the small, lonely robot. I was inspired by historical diver suits. The heart stands for the love he feels for his creator.

For the final piece I blocked in the larger shapes with watercolor and painted the details with guache. This time I went for a blue and orange colorpalette. The darkest darks are done with watercolor (indigo and paynes grey bluish, both from Schmincke Horadam).
