The Lone Warrior

Hi everyone! I'm Vividha, and I really enjoy making creative projects and trying out new crafts whenever I get the chance.

For this project, I decided to create an illuminated paper lightbox called The Warrior's Journey. I wanted to make something that felt mysterious and told a story, so I chose to create a lone warrior travelling through a difficult path. I liked the idea that every layer could represent a challenge or obstacle, while the light behind the warrior could symbolise hope and determination.

Before starting, I made several thumbnail sketches to experiment with different layouts and compositions. After deciding on my favourite design, I created a more detailed sketch and began cutting each layer by hand. This was definitely the most time-consuming part of the project, especially with all the tiny details and cutouts!

Next, I carefully assembled the layers using spacers to create depth. It took a bit of patience to make sure everything lined up correctly, but seeing the scene slowly come together made it worth the effort.

Here are some of the thumbnail sketches I made while exploring different ideas and layouts before choosing my final design.

This is the final sketch that I used as a guide for creating the paper layers.

All the layers are cut out and ready to be assembled! This was probably the most satisfying stage because I could finally see the whole design coming together.

And here's the final result! I love how the light brings out the different layers and creates a sense of depth. Seeing the finished piece glow in the dark was definitely my favourite part of the entire process.

Thank you so much, Kateryna Loreli, for this wonderful class! I had a lot of fun creating this project and learning more about illuminated paper crafts. I can't wait to experiment with more designs in the future.

Thank you for viewing my project! ♡
