The Forgetful Goldfish

The Forgetful Goldfish - student project

I have submitted a major project which I've been working on for 5 years. Lately, I feel numb, like I'm still running on the inertia of finishing my project. I believe this is what we call a modern-day burnout, where we don't know when or how to stop overthinking.

I wanted to depict this state through a collage, a colourful page that can record the forgetful nature of humans and nature at certain times. As a child, I was always fascinated by goldfish (and perhaps a little jealous), which have a very short attention span of only a few seconds.

As a tribute to the forgetful habit of both humans and nature, I have made this collage. To be honest, normalising this state of forgetfulness really calmed me down.

Supplies: Watercolour paper and paint, sketchbook, pencil, ball-point pens, pressed flowers, tapes, pins and clips.

Thank you for reading my story, and a big shoutout to our teacher Ms. Jenny, for hosting this amazing course!
