Taking an Intentional Approach to Creating Mockups

One of the reasons, I started creating my own mockups is because I was spending way too much time trying to fit my work in to mockups that didn't match my style. By creating my own mockups, I have full control over all elements, from the background, to the exact frames I need to not only complement my work, but help elevate it.

I hope you enjoyed watching my process for creating these mockups and can see yourself using them for your own work. I would love to see what you create, so please consider sharing them here in the Projects section!

This image above was built up from scratch, rather than using a photograph. The shelf was created the same way as the frame was, using flat vectors, then adding texture and shading. In this case, I added a paper texture to the mat because it was closeup and can be seen. (if it's at a distance, there is no need to add additional pixel weight to an image if it's not going to make a difference) The candle and the plant are both transparent png elements I pulled from Rawpixel.

I wanted a close up shot with a warm vibe to it, and when I wasn't finding the background images that would fit that, I went with creating it myself.

I'll be creating a YouTube tutorial to go along with the class, where I show how to create the shelf, along with all the shading, from scratch. Stay tuned!
