Initial sketches

I completed my initial object sketches before watching on and seeing Tom's tips regarding choice of object and its iconic shape/enough defining details. Although my choice could be interpreted as a short dress. I am going to continue with my choice of retro 50's swimsuits and see if I can apply the principles in my chosen Mid Century style.

The suit I chose has ruching detail so in abstracting the detail to its simplest form I broke down the detail as the ruching, to the structural to the outline.

 

I played with custoisation by adding frill detail to the suit and a chevron simple pattern. Context was the beginnings of a figure. I still struggle with drawing in an abstracted or stylised way.
