Dear Laura, thank you for sharing your project! First of all, it's a great and creative idea to add flowers! I could hardly come up with such a thing. Secondly, as you pointed out right, the contrast at the top is nice and one can really feel the light.As for the rays, it's hard to give a specific recommendation, because I don't see your process. First, I would still try using the wet technique, which I showed in the lesson, it significantly prolongs the time of work on the wet, and then it is easier to make smooth transitions in the beams. Next, the bottom part of the sky background is darker than the top, of course, but maybe it makes sense to make it a bit lighter than it turned out here. That way it would be easier to apply a shadow to the rays. In your painting the blue part of the rays is uneven, and the tone is even lighter than the warm background. That's why it looks like a separate element. I hope my comments will help. In any case, beautiful work, keep it up! :)-Maria

Thank you!! And thank you for your comments they will help me and I really need help. I have searched the internet for help painting sun rays. There are so many different ways, I had no idea. I have watched and re-watched your video. I got frustrated with my attempts at the sun rays is how we ended up with flowers. I really want to learn how to do this so thank you for your guidance!! I love your classes! Eventually I'm going to figure this out. I just need some more practice.

I know that it can be tricky with sun rays, but I'm sure some more practice and you will make it! The method I propose here is not the easiest one by the way! It can be more easy to try to make them directly on white background and keep the beams white too. Which of course will give a different result.

This one was tough for me too. You did a good job. I struggled with the clouds a bit. I’m going to try it one more time. I have learned not every painting is going to be a masterpiece, but each is a stepping stone to our next one.

Thank you! I saw yours too.  I loved the deer especially the one with antlers. I thought yours looked good too. Your sun was spot on, and then the clouds, weren't bad, just not like what we were supposed to do, lol. I'm going to watch some other videos and come back to this one too. I really want to be able to paint the sun beams.

What I should have said is I really like the painting as a whole and I like how you added the flowers.  The sky is spectacular!

Awww, thank you!! I was glad you liked the flowers:) After I struggled with this for a long while, even left it and came back to it, the flowers were all I could think to put on my rows of dirt I had created. I'm going to try this again, eventually, because I really want to paint the sunbeams and shadows.

It’s great that you made a go at what you had created instead of giving up.  I think you came up with a great idea.

This was super hard for me and I did the first class that is mentioned. I could not make the sunbeams. They kept getting darker the more I tried. I loved the top half with my sun but from there it seemed to go downhill.  In the end I decided my shadows looked more like planting rows so I painted flowers on them, and my dark clouds looked more like mountains. That my sun looked like it was rising over fields. Maybe, I will try again another day.
