Sunlit Portrait

I had much more success with extending my wet-on-wet painting time with this portrait.  I tried this technique in another class with Evgenia (painting a beach scene with reflective water and seashells) and found that it was too dry in my area to get the longer wet-on-wet painting times and my painting was drying before I could do the whole first layers (15-20 minutes or so).

This time around, I ran a humidifier by my work area and followed the techniques and found that I got a much longer working time than before (about 35-40 minutes).  This helped tremendously to get those initial layers down and I was able to do the entire portrait in just 3 layers.

I forgot to mask off my hair highlights ahead of time, so I lifted some color and also finished off with white highlights at the end to bring them out a bit more.  I had to work with the colors I had, so I had a bit more mixing to do, but I will definitely look into getting the colors Evgenia recommended.  It seems like it would be so much easier to get the right color mixes.

Here is my completed project.  Thank you, Evgenia, for a wonderful class.
