Still Life and Death

I didn't have easy access to citrus except by the bag. However, as someone whose father was a skull collector, I've always loved still lives with skulls in them and have easy access to those. So I decided to go with some nice sunflowers we had for sale at work and add in a badger skull. The containers are from Mum's - one vase with a nice, smooth surface to match the skull, and an earthen ware container I just liked. Since my colour scheme was yellow and black (with the obviously necessary accents), I used my black studio background and a strip of black velvet I had laying around for texture.
This was a fun assignment, especially the touch up. All I have for editing is an ancient version of Photoshop (from back when you could actually buy it!) and I'd never really played with dodge and burn like that. I think I like them...
My only gripe over all was that my camera kept changing exposure on me. I'd get it right, sneeze, then I'd be +3. Adjust the ISO, blink, and suddenly it's dropped to -.7. I love my camera, but some times...
