Spring fun in the sun!

I loved trying this project on a sunny, spring PNW day! I gathered whatever was blooming in the yard - flowers, herbs, hedges and pounded them into the paper which was a super fun process! I felt like the colors that transferred were a little paler than I would have liked or expected, but as I drew imaginary flowers with the ink pen, they came back to life! I enjoyed the flower pounding process so much!

The vibrancy of the petal colors was impressive!

I had a sweet helper!

These are the smashed flowers after pounding. Looks pretty cool, too!

Here's how the pigment transferred to the page (watercolor paper). A little paler than the original flowers.

Once I started inking in the imaginary flower shapes, it came to life!

I kept a list of the flowers & plants I used and whether the color transferred to the page easily. A very fun project! Thank you, Peggy!
