Spooky Halloween Cake Collage
This is the largest thing I ever created! Wow! What fun! 13" x 15" on watercolor paper.

Started with this class, some ghostly inspiration* and a multi-blue wet-on-wet wash.
The cake, plate and frostinng are all gelli prints. The base is a piece of scrapbook paper, watercolored over and tried to show some of the leafy lines. Not perfect. That’s ok.
The ghost motif came from a pen or pencil drawing I found in Skillshare, and I apologize for not noting the name of the creator. I liked the idea of a gathering of ghosts, so I took off on that theme, but mine was all drawn with Posca paints. I liked how the white was a bit translucent which seemed more ghostly.
I ventured into my own idea when I got to the top of the cake, adding the big ghost holding some candles and a lighter look around it using silver Posca paint instead of the gold, black and white.
This was a challenge and lots of fun.
Once again, Elisabeth, a superb class that pushed me into a new zone of boldness, bravery, experimentation and genuine fun! Thanks so much!

PS I do not even like Halloween, but the project pulled me in!
* NOTE: Credit for the ghostly inspiration goes to Skillshare teacher Vishal Munshi. I spotted “Inktober,” a class featuring 12 ink drawings of spooky ghosts. I saved it for a time when I am ready to use ink for art again.
