Sourdough Starter - student project

To  Create a Sourdough Starter

Date started: April 6, 2025. 

Ingredients: white flour, whole wheat flour, bottled water

Reflection: The submitted picture shows the sourdough starter at 9 days old.Within the first 6 hours after feeding the batter had increased to around three times its original size/amount. There were some difficulties initially as around day 2/3 hooch started to form in the mixture. However after increasing the ratio of flour and water, the was no longer a separation in the mixture. I believe that the difficulties encountered were as a result of using white flour alone.(Rye flour is unavailable in my territory) 

I am however satisified with my efforts after combining whole wheat flour to the starter. The growth was more aggressive. Stronger. Now I can hardly wait to start baking breads.
