I’ve mainly being doing classes with a lot of wet on wet technique, so this was an interesting change, and challenge.  I’m not quite used to mixing colours yet, so didn’t always end up with accurate colours.  I think I also need to practice how to control my brush strokes a bit better as I didn’t do a great job leaving white space between feathers, or painting feathers in a single stroke. But it’s a good start!

Overall this was a great learning experience and I had lots of fun! I hope to try painting some local birds from my own photos based on what I learned here.
