Somehow you start

I am an absolute oil beginner, but I have not been put off by the title "master class", but want to get right into it and not get into the habit of bad things. Therefore, I have learned an incredible amount in this project, even if the handling of the colours (I use watermixable oil paints and struggle with the amount of water) and painting wet-in-wet has caused me considerable difficulties. In addition, at the end I had to fight massively against the need to become more precise. And yes: a thick brush helps. :-)

Nevertheless, I am glad that I worked through the course, even if I regretted very quickly that I used my own photo reference instead of just painting along. So I will probably do the course again - this time with the template provided.

Overall, the picture turned out too dark, and I'm still asking myself whether I should make the meadow on the right side lighter (or whether I'll ruin everything).
I'm glad I left out the 2nd tree and the houses in the background, because that would have added a lot more difficult details.
Besides, I don't know how I could have painted the tree more painterly; it is much more detailed than the rest of the picture.
As for the composition, it's not great that the path leads to the church, competing with the tree, but I don't know how I could have changed that without losing the tree.
Also, I would have liked to add more structure to the rape on the left side, but I don't know how.
Nevertheless: I am happy about the painting. And there is still a lot to learn. :-)
Thank you for this class!
