Canson is not the best watercolor paper to practice on. it is very hard and does not have good asorbency, so the colors sit on the top and dont blend nicely. I'm not sure where you live, but Arches watercolor paper is pretty commonly available everywhere in the world. If you can get a small pad of Arches, or a singe big sheet and cut it up into small practice sheets, you will have a much more pleasant experience painting. In my first watercolor class, I go over all the recommended supplies. Thank you. I have used Arches for the past 8 years but was recommended to Canson by another teacher. But I agree with you its not as beautiful as other papers. I am trying to use it up! Ha!

I have tried Canson because it was cheap and the only one available within a 30min driving distance. But am always disappointed w watercolor with it. But I use it for other mixed media things, or making gelli prints to use for collage.

I found this fast process challenging as my paper dries so fast.
