I used the methods described to dye a small silk square with just onion skin. I used both red onion and yellow onion. I think the red onion (?) might've gone green because of our local water? At least that's what the internet told me. It's hard to tell from my camera just how vividly green it is right now. I understand it'll probably fade pretty quickly to brown or tan, but in the meantime, I'm really enjoying it. I did try to iron it, but it turns out my iron is old and bad :).
