Relaxing, warm bedroom
By introduction, I work in a very stressful role where I'm on-call 24/7. I sleep odd hours - it may be noon, it may be 2am.
I wanted a space in the bedroom that was warm, relaxing, tranquil, free of distraction. It's a fairly small room (10x10'), and I've removed all natural light so that the room can be sunset at any time, to prepare me for sleep, or even destressing.
The electric simmer pot on the [pseudo]wood stove/infrared heater has lavender oil. Under the pseudo-hearth I've hidden an amplifier, under the bed are speakers. Generally the room sounds of Native American flute. The art piece I did in oil, it's in classic impressionist style. Inside the 60's vintage empress phone, I've hidden an Amazon Echo for voice control over music, light dimming, and room temperature. I've tried to hide the technology as much as possible. Wires run behind a false trim board. The duvet cover is French linen from Normandy, the throw is an Icelandic sheepskin. The sheets are the crispest linen I could find. Texture is important to me.
I think what it most lacks is biophylia. In this heavily controlled environment, I've found it difficult. I have one orchid that seems to do very well in the exceedingly limited light. I would very much welcome and appreciate any input, thoughts, and suggestions - it's a process that never ends...
[edit] Here's the little "reading nook" at the foot of the bed was a closet I rarely used. I opened it up and added the waterfall and reading chair.
