The Red Squirrel is one of my favourite animals to photograph, so I used one of my own photos as a reference here.

As usual, I started off really expressively, trying hard just to focus on tonal values. I don't think I'm getting the balance of water and paint right though, because when I try and leave water 'splotches' or lift the paint, nothing happens! 
I feel my end result looks more acrylic than watercolour but this is a regular problem with my work! 

It was interesting applying the dark values first, I've not seen that done with watercolour before. It did help me think about the light and dark areas of my composition and certainly gave me a challenge! 

The end result is not what I was hoping for but it was another interesting and informative lesson. Thanks Will!
